Computer Design
- Why is it common practice to work on a monitor that is the same shape as a page in landscape view, when we have most often worked on paper in the portrait orientation?
-
- The shorter sentences on portrait are are easier to read
- Although some monitors support rotating, how many user actually use something than the default settings?
- Why did mice become so popular?
-
- Computer mice seem to have so many problems including, but not limited to RSI.
- Would it make more sense to allow an flat computer monitor to be embedded into computer desks with touch screens?
- Is there an alternative to touch screens that are more durable?
- Do you really use your Microsoft Windows Desktop the same way as you do your desk?
-
- Is the desktop of a Mac or Windows computer more like your real desk?
- Why can Program Windows not be Minimized (Iconified?) to an icon on the task tray (next to clock and the little speaker)
- Why is the look and feel of the Linux Graphical User Interface so much like Microsoft Windows, Are their not other quite different possibilities?
- Who can recall all their passwords?
- Unsubscribing to email Newsletters
-
- Why is removing yourself from email list always so hard?
- If links are provided to remove your email address, most sites require you to log in to do so; Why?
-
- Surely if you got hold on a unique unsubscribe link, you should not need to log in to use it.
- It is so much easier just to label it Spam and get rid of it like the rest of the Spam.
- Why can't email programs have an 'ignore' option, so that you can 'ignore' an email and the software sends an 'Address not found' error back to the sender.
- Website Registration Forms
-
- Why does every site want me to register?
- I wish that for each site, my web browser would have a 'register' button that I could just click to become a member of that site. Why should I have to look around for registration forms, create a unique password, find an unused username and remember it?
- Are forms on websites made to be annoying, at the expense of good user design, just to keep out spam and automated programs?
